Hero Pose

Today's video is another yoga pose tutorial. The pose I'm teaching is Virasana also known as Hero Pose. This pose can be difficult if you have knee or ankle injuries, so I wouldn't recommend doing this pose if you have those problems. Hero Pose is great for stretching your quadriceps and ankles, as well as promoting flexibility in the thighs, ankles, and knees. It can also encourage spinal alignment. People with tight hips like to use this pose instead of Easy Pose because it can be done without having a lot of range in the hips. If you have a yoga block, you can use it for modifications in Virasana. You can also use a rolled up towel underneath the ankles if there's a lot of pressure on them in Virasana. I like to use this pose when I'm doing meditation, or just sitting quietly.
